Dr. Khan is the founder and executive director of the Shifa Free Clinic in Mount Pleasant, which has been providing compassionate, advanced multi-specialty healthcare and hunger prevention services to the residents of our community who do not have health insurance and have an income level that falls within 250% of the federal poverty level since January 2012.

Dr. Khan completed her OB/GYN residency at Saint Elizabeth hospital in Ohio. Since then has worked in private practice in Indiana, Maryland, and South Carolina.

She is an active participant in various interfaith programs, a popular speaker, and serves on the board of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina. She has been named as an Everyday Hero by NBC WCBD News 2 as well as being featured at other times by the media.

She has also been honored both as the Non Profit Leader of 2017 by the Trident United Way and as one of the Ten Trailblazers in South Carolina by the Women's Rights & Empowerment Network, received both the Leadership in Diversity award from the Sisters of Charity Foundation and the YWCA Greater Charleston 2018 #WhatWomenBring award in the healthcare category, and earned both the Dedicated Community Service Award from the Prevent Cancer Foundation and the 2019 Public & Community Service Award by the Atlantic Institute.
