As Associate Director, Stakeholder Engagement, Community & Collaboration Core (CCC) at Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR), Cyd Lacanienta directs several university collaborations on training development and research on the science of Team Science, Collaboration and Community Engagement. Stakeholder are individuals or groups who have an interest or role in a project, program or portfolio, or are impacted by it.  As the lead for ICTR’s community engagement team, Lacanienta,  experience in community engagement (CE) has generated proven results both within and outside the organization.
 

Lacanienta holds a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore, specializing in macro practice, community organization, health disparities, children and families.  A macro social work practitioner with 25 years’ experience, she serves as the lead for ICTR’s community engagement team and promotes best practices on community engagement throughout the research life cycle and dissemination of best practices.  
 

Translational research seeks to produce more meaningful results that directly benefit human health. The goal of translational research is to more quickly and efficiently engage resources to address social determinants of health.
